The Twins Babe - Derek Jeter, Meet Cuddy's Laser Rocket Arm

Hey 10,000 Takes readers, I'm Sooze from Babes Love Baseball. I'll be posting here once a week or so, ranting about the only passion I have left in my life, the Twins. I'm a Minnesota girl, born and raised, currently living in lovely Winona, and there aren't many things I love more than America's Pastime.

Derek Jeter, Meet Cuddy's Laser Rocket Arm

The thought of when Joe Mauer was going to launch one over the fence hadn't crossed my mind more than once this season (Gardy called 15 at the end of the year for Man Muscles, we'll see how that one goes) he's just not a home run hitter, and that's fine. He doesn't need to be. Delmon Young on the other hand? It's about damn time.

Carlos Gomez needs to settle the hell down maybe. After successfully nabbing 16 stolen bases of his first 18 attempts, he's been thrown out four of the last five times. Another awesome outfielder, Michael Cuddyer, has started to turn things around, batting .500 against the Yankees and smashing his second homer of the season to bring his average up to .258. If not for his sparkling defense, I'd politely ask him to step it up a notch.

I got to see Nick Blackburn get laid out Sunday, live from the upper deck. I was terrified that his beautiful face would be mangled forever, but it's all good: no broken bones and barely a bruise. He's tough as nails, just as I suspected. Justin Morneau's speed around the base paths impressed the crap out of me, too. What a guy.

Monday's finale against New York, what a game! The Twins have got to be the best in the bigs at rallying. Livan "on a prayer" Hernandez battled, allowing 13 hits, which puts him on pace to become the first pitcher since Phil Niekro (1979) to give up 300 hits in a season. Not exactly the milestone we're looking for.

Scott Baker will start this Thursday against the Baltimore Orioles in place of the struggling Boof Bonser. Part of me is sad that Boof couldn't cut it in the rotation, but I love watching Baker pitch, and the over-worked bullpen could really use the arm. In the end, it's a win-win.

Speaking of winning, the Baltimore Orioles haven't won a series against the Twin since 2002 and managed to drop every single game against them last season (0-7) this is excellent news for us.

Go Twins!
